It is with much regret that I bring this bad news to you. Uncharted 4: A Thief's End has been delayed until Spring 2016.

News of Uncharted 4's delay broke out when the two directors of the game, Neil Drackmann and Bruce Straley, officially posted their statements on the PlayStation Blog informing everyone of Naughty Dog's decision.

Their statements are as follow:

"Since we showed you our first gameplay reveal of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, more of the game and story have come together, and it's become clear to us that this game is much more ambitious than we originally envisioned.

After spending so many years with Nathan Drake, he means a lot to the team, and telling the climactic chapter of his adventures is a task we don't take lightly--this game deserves every bit of the attention to detail, precise pacing, and nuanced storytelling Naughty Dog is known for.

So we've made the difficult choice of pushing the game's release date. Giving us a few extra months will make certain that Uncharted 4: A Thief's End not only meets the team's high standards but the high standards that gamers have come to expect from a Naughty Dog title."

This is both good news and bad news for gamers. Bad news because now we have to wait an entire year to play the concluding chapter of the Uncharted saga. Good news because Uncharted 4 will not be rushed and Naughty Dog can have all the time in the world to polish Uncharted 4 to perfection. We must all remember a quote from the one and only, Shigeru Miyamoto:

\r

Review: Shadow Warrior ( Very Minor Spoilers)

Basis

Shadow Warrior is a wonderful ride through humor and gut wrenching fun where you play as the geeky lovable mercenary Lo Wang, working currently as one ofOrochi Zilla's right hand and reliable mercenaries' with his new side kick Hoji, a demon banished from his home world. Together combining both of Hoji's demon magic and Lo Wang's amazing katana mastery, they power their way through the demon hordes in this unlikely duo's journey for the Nobitsura Kage.

Game-play

Game-play in shadow warrior is quite fun. You can hack hack slash and shoot just about anything in the entire game and, yes the demons of course! you will obtain more weapons through out your adventure, such a the quad barrel shotgun. all of these attainable weapons all have upgrades to make these weapons even stronger than they already are but, be careful with your cash you will not be able to upgrade everything just like in previous games like Bioshock. When in combat your are scored for every move you make and how that move effects your enemy's body. So for example if you pull out your revolver and score a flawless head shot on a standard demon you shall be rewarded with more karma which is used to upgrade Wang's combat abilities (but not Hoji's demon attributes). Combat is broken down into;

Small Encounters

Large Encounters

Boss Fights

Small encounters are when you are usually are exploring a given area and you just so happen to run into a couple of demons eating or thrashing at a corpse, dancing around , and even having a hot tub party in a pool of blood. Large encounters start the same as the small encounters but later more demons are summoned to the area. This is where the game can get quite punishing. You now are not just gaining points by your skills but, now you are being graded on your overall performance by a five star system by mixing up combat and doing it swiftly. To note all of the music playing when this is happening is pretty friggin neato. You may want to use your katana the most along with Hoji's demon abilities. Hoji's demon powers are a wonderful addition to the combat in Shadow Warrior. Hoji gives you the ability to heal, shield, push back, and throw your enemies. All of these powers can be upgraded with a collectible called Ki Crystals. These Crystals are usually in semi-visible environment where you have to figure out a path that would lead you to that given area. Getting the these crystals will greatly help you in your quest to get a better score in combat which will later lead to higher karma score's so you can greater up grade Lo Wang's abilities. The final segment of combat is yes, the notorious Boss Fights. All the boss fights in Shadow Warrior are quite the same actually, besides their own combat abilities. you are presented with a VERY VERY large opponent and you have to shoot parts of their armor the reveal a weak spot and you should shoot at it with your strongest weapon you own at that moment to quickly destroy one of 5 weak spots until the boss is dead. There are 3 key parts to mastering game-play in Shadow Warrior.

Exploration

Scavenging

ADT (attention to detail)

All of these three things are important, why? SECRETS! Lots and lots of them. There are lots of Easter Eggs to showcase a lot of Devolver Digital's other game's such as Hotline Miami, Serious Sam, and even the classic Shadow Warrior. all of these little Easter Eggenvironmentsmost of the time have lots money and sometimes karma pools which are just pots of boiling blood which reward you with a large amount of karma when discovered. OH! And if it's any bonus, rabbits have sex often and when their doing the do take a swing at them with your sword and see what happens.

Story

(This is where the very minor spoilers I mentioned are at)

Shadow Warrior's story is quite good actually. It's Riveting, Interesting, and Mysterious everything you need for a well built up story to have a very satisfying ending that may bring a tear to your eye. The game starts you off in Wang's car jamming to the Transformer's hit "The Touch" by Stan Bush with Wang singing along getting ready to do a job forOrochi Zillawho own's a very large billion dollar company that owns and monopolize most of the world's products and is now searching for a fabled sword called theNobitsura Kage. Lo Wang's job is simple get the sword no matter what the "cost" in that case money or blood. after these beginning events the offer for the sword is obviously refused (what would you expect?). Later after fighting a horde of yakuza thugs you were trying to buy the sword from capture you and cage you outdoors, demons end up spawning and killing the yakuza. After escaping you have and encounter with the hilarious demon Hoji who will be you new companion through out that rest of the game. Together from that point you find out there are 3 different swords under the nameNobitsura Kage and are being moved around earth by these puppet creatures called Whisperers and all are required to complete the sword and bring it to it's true power this sword basically has the properties of the Master Sword from The Legend of Zelda series. No living demon can touch it. EVER. The blade of demons' bane in the sense can quite come in handy in a demon apocalypse. This is basically the Current plot of Shadow Warrior. Throughout the game you find out a bit more back story about Hoji and why he was banished and who his fellow demon brethren are (just brace yourself it's a true WTF moment for sure). Overall Shadow Warrior's story is awesome. Really. It's Honestly a lot more great than it sounds it's just something you would have to experience for yourself.

Closing Statement

Overall, Shadow Warrior is a hell of a lot of fun and really deserves a lot more credit that what it has received over the course of all most two years since it's first release on PC. The game hits it all. Shadow Warrior plays with your emotions makes you laugh and could at times make you feel like an absolute badass and, I would STRONGLY recommend this game to any one who enjoys first person action with a deep and meaning full story with lovable and interesting characters. FINAL SCORE: 4.5/5

\r

Alekhine's Gun - Review

Many Hitman fans have been waiting for a true sequel to Hitman: Blood Money for years. So with Hitman 2016 still a short wait away, is Alekhine's Gun the worthy spiritual successor to Blood Money and Death to Spies 2? Developed and published by Maximum Games, Alekhine's Gun is a 3rd person, stealth action adventure set during the height of the Cold War.

I'm a firm believer in saying that the quality of a game's graphics does not reflect the quality of the game as a whole, but just how bad the graphics are has to be addressed for the people that do care. Textures are flat, animations are stiff, and the lighting is jagged and all over the place.

This is a game that looks like it could easily run on a PS2, but has trouble running on a PS4. Not even a minute into actually playing the game, the frame rate tanked below 20fps as soon as I moved the camera. It's clear that the frame rate isn't capped, so one second you are at 60fps, then the next you are chugging along at 24fps. There are other games on the PS4 that have superior graphics, but still never drop below 60fps. The fact that this game does though makes no sense.

What technically counts as a story for Alekhine's Gun is a thinly spread doomsday plot that only exists to have you travel to various locations from the 1940's through the 1960's. You must travel to many different environments around the world, over the span of 3 decades, in order to eliminate targets, destroy sensitive information, and gather intel in order to keep the Cold War from boiling over. This story is primarily played out with single frame, black and white drawings with voice overs. For some reason, even these cutscenes suffer frame frequent frame rate dips.

Alekhine's Gun would have benefited greatly from a "The Man from U.N.C.L.E."-esque spy plot. You already play as a Russian spy, and there is an American CIA agent you save that is suspicious of you. Instead, we're stuck with a game that takes itself much too seriously. Which wouldn't have been bad if the story was actually engaging.

The bits of story that are actually fleshed out are the backgrounds of your targets and how they connect to real world events of the time. It's clear that the developers spent a lot of time studying the world's history during the Cold War. It's genuinely interesting to see how these fictional events would have fit in the real world.

Here is where Alekhine's Gun shines bright, the gameplay. Maximum Games were able to take the best elements of Death to Spies 2 and Hitman: Blood Money and put them into one game. As you progress through Alekhine's Gun, you will be given more and more unique ways of disposing of your targets and completing your objectives.

Simple ways of eliminating your targets, such as choking and poisoning, will eventually turn into electrocution, accidental chandelier positioning and BBQing gone wrong. Admittedly, not as unique as the ways of killing your targets in the Hitman entries, but Alekhine's Gun still offers a vast array of elimination and opportunities. Although, performing the same kill over and over will probably burn you out, so make sure to either take breaks or change up your play style from time to time.

Loadout and gear customization isn't as in depth as, say, Blood Money, but it certainly comes in handy with the 11 open levels you are tasked with completing. All the environments feel distinct and fun to play in. From a Nazi castle, to a busy hotel in Switzerland, to a mob boss' huge villa in New York The entire level is open to you from the get-go as well, so there's no need to wait for the other half of the map to unlock when the game deems you are worthy to proceed.

One welcome addition is the ability to save and load whenever you want. This may seem like something that isn't praise worthy, but it's a feature that is seemingly omitted from almost every faux mainstream stealth game nowadays. What may irritate many more modern gamers is that Alekhine's Gun lacks a basic autosave feature. So make sure to save before you do anything risky, or else you will be forced to replay from your last manual save point.

Is Alekhine's Gun a bad game? No, a bad game is a game that fails to achieve what it was aiming for. Maximum Games aimed for a fun, Hitman-esque stealth game in a Cold War setting, and they succeeded with that. Many people seem to forget that not every game needs to be Citizen Kane or a work of art to hang in a museum. Some games just want to be games. Although tripping over a few graphical and narrative hurdles, Alekhine's Gun core experience is a fun stealth romp that hearkens back to the days of Hitman: Blood Money.

Being a product of the 90's I had very few options when it came to video games, and being poor did not help matters. As such if I was lucky, I could really only go for the cheapest gaming system and games on the market at the time. Case in point: the PlayStation 1 was the very first gaming console that I bought with my own money, which in and of itself was quite the accomplishment for nine-year-old me. You'd think that being the Nintendo fanboy that I am I would've gone for the Nintendo 64, but no; I was seduced by the high quality audio and CD medium. It was well worth it though; because of that small break away from my comfort zone I became familiar with one of my favorite non-Mario platforming games: Crash Bandicoot, so you can imagine that the recent remake known as the N. Sane Trilogy was a day one purchase for me. But as much I was excited for the first three games being remade, did Vicarious Visions do the originals justice?

Now each one of the first three Crash Bandicoot games are a very specific type of platforming game that I like to call "Tunnel Platformers," because they're basically what would happen if you placed the field of view behind the player's avatar instead of to the side of it (like in Super Mario Bros); This was partly what made Crash Bandicoot so unique. The other part were the numerous and humorous death animations. Luckily these gameplay focuses remain wholly intact, but with a new coat of paint and some minor tweaks and alterations were made here and there to bring the earlier games (1 & 2) closer in style to the later entries (2 & 3 respectively). With the exception of colored gems, you no longer have to do a perfect run of a stage in Crash 1 to get the level's gem. Also in Crash 1, bonus rounds don't permanently vanish after they're completed. In Crash 2, after you unlock your first secret stage entrance you can access it whenever you want by going to the warp room's basement. And finally, all games allow you to do time trials (with online leaderboards) and let you play as Crash's younger sister Coco (after you beat the first boss).

Now all of these additions are very nice indeed, but because this a full-on remake (from the ground up no less) and not a remastering like what the trend has become nowadays, there are bound to be a few things here and there that aren't exactly how they were in the originals. For instance: Crash's crawling speed is slightly reduced, there is a bit of control lag when getting from a standing pose into a crouch after walking or jumping, the ice physics are a bit slipperier than I remember, and Crash's hitbox is tiny bit bigger than what it used to be which makes getting past fire traps all the more difficult. All in all the problems that were fixed causes some new problems to arise thus keeping the games' difficulty around the same as what it used to be.

All in all my time with the game was a lucrative experience. It's not a perfect 1-to-1 recreation of the classic games, but this collection is a damn fine attempt. The gameplay physics are more or less exactly the same as I remember them, the new voice actors do a pretty good job at replicating the feel of the original characters' VA's with some even going above and beyond for selling the role they played, and the new features that were added to Crash 1 and 2 are a great way to breathe life back into a couple of games that were likely played to death. One could even say that this is the Super Mario All-Stars of the Crash Bandicoot franchise. All we need now is a classic Spyro the Dragon trilogy remake, but until then, I'll be seeing you.

Score
